Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is calculated based on children who are known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), service children and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. This will also include pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years. From September 2012, schools have been required to publish online information about how they plan to use their allocation and the impact it has had. This ensures that parents and other interested parties are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils and schools’ strategies for ‘narrowing the gap’. The spending of this grant is at the discretion of the governors of the school, and it is our intention to provide support at both ends of the ability spectrum.
The Pupil Premium is funding in addition to the school’s budget. Schools are free to decide how to allocate this funding to best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.

Free School Meals
Free School Meals: Important Changes from September 2026
From September 2026, the Government is expanding eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM). This means that all children in households receiving Universal Credit will automatically qualify, regardless of income. This is a significant change designed to support more families and ensure children have access to a healthy, nutritious meal every day.
Who Will Be Eligible?
Universal Credit households
- From the 2026/27 school year, any child in a household receiving Universal Credit will qualify for FSM.
- The previous £7,400 earnings threshold will no longer apply.
Younger children
- Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receive free school meals automatically.
Other qualifying benefits
Children may also be eligible if parents receive:
- Income‑related Employment and Support Allowance
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- No recourse to public funds (NRPF) under specific criteria
Ever 6 FSM
- Children who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years remain part of the Ever 6 group, which helps schools receive additional funding.

Holiday support
- FSM eligibility also links to the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF), offering meals and enrichment activities during school holidays.
